BIO:
Ben Joyner is an LA-based multidisciplinary director and cinematographer drawn to stories that mix emotional honesty with a sense of humor. His recent directing work includes Life’s Better In Spanish for Melissa Villaseñor (featured by NBC and Late Nighter), Wolves of Glendale’s Olivia (featured in Billboard, LA Mag, Rolling Stone), and Wife Guy for Hovey Benjamin.
Originally from the Deep South, Joyner brings a lyrical, grounded perspective to his storytelling, often informed by his background in music. He recently released his debut EP, Got My Drums Back, Vol. 1. A write-up on one of the singles, featuring a video he directed, can be found here.
His short film Abducted premiered at Tribeca and was financed and produced through a South Carolina Indie Grant. He’s currently shopping around a feature film inspired by his relationship with his father and siblings, a story that also drew national attention as the subject of a New York Times article by Nicholas Kristof (which led to the forthcoming book American Prophecy: One Family, Two Nations, and a World on Fire by NYT bestselling author Lauren Sandler).
As a cinematographer, he’s lensed the feature films Come With Me (dir. Aaron Harvey, starring Theo Rossi and Ron Perlman), A Fantastic Relationship (dir. Bridge Stuart, now streaming on Prime Video), The Bitter Pill (dir. Clay Tweel, premiering on PBS in September 2025), and Mississippi River Styx (executive producers Jody Hill, David Gordon Green, Danny McBride). His commercial credits include work for Fender, Neutrogena, Under Armour, Ford, Wal-Mart, and more. He is represented as a cinematographer by Zero Gravity Management. Commercial reels available upon request.
